About Us

At the Station Singers, we have 3 fun and friendly choirs. We offer free taster sessions and there are no auditions as we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to sing in a choir.

Platform One (Mixed voices)

Wednesday 9.30 – 11.00
Screen 2, at The Station

For anyone who likes to sing. You don't have to be able to read music, just come along and join in. You will brush up on your skills and learn new ones along the way. Many singers stay on for coffee and social time after rehearsals.

Platform Two (Mixed voices)

Wednesday 11.15- 12.45
Screen 2, at The Station

For singers with more experience. The repertoire is more demanding and the part singing more complex. Most singers have music reading skills. Many singers enjoy a coffee and social time in The Station before rehearsals.

Branch Line (Women's voices)

Thursday 19.45- 21.15
Richmond Town Hall

For all sopranos and altos who have work commitments or would rather sing in the evening. For music readers and non-music readers alike. Doors open at 19.00 for a cuppa and social time.

Meet the Team:

Kay Bromhead - Musical Director

Inspiring and encouraging pupils to take part and enjoy music in Harrogate secondary schools for much of her teaching career, Kay, now retired, has the time to pursue her musical interests and is living in the countryside above Masham.
Kay has been Musical Director for Harrogate Phoenix Players, Harrogate Male Voice Choir, Catterick WAGS, and Richmond Operatic Society’s production of Calendar Girls.
An accomplished musician, Kay continues to play the organ for Church services around Masham, and teaches the piano and trombone. She also sings and directs a small ladies vocal ensemble, Treble Clef, who perform for charitable causes.
Having started with Station Singers as Deputy Conductor in 2016, Kay is now Musical Director and the choir continues to thrive.

Brett Overin - Accompanist

Brett took early retirement from a career in teaching, throughout which he played the piano for school musicals and choirs. Since moving to North Yorkshire in 1990 he has accompanied a wide variety of local singing groups and soloists. He began playing for the Station Singers at their concerts and subsequently took on the role of full-time accompanist in 2014. He also accompanies the Catterick Military WAGS Choir.

Management Committee (SSMC)

On the Committee are representatives from each choir including Choir Secretaries, Librarians, General Secretary, Treasurer, Publicity Officer, Social Media & Website Officer and Chair. All committee members are volunteers.

Accounts are presented at the Annual Meeting (usually held in May) and are examined independently on a yearly basis in line with current charity guidelines.
